Nilda Iris Ruiz
NILDA IRIS RUIZ is the president and chief executive officer of Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha, Inc. (APM). As successor to APM’s founder, she has been involved with the agency as either a staff member, or funder for over 24 years. Founded in 1970, APM is a Latino-based health, human services and community development organization committed to helping Philadelphia area families achieve their greatest potential. As executive member of the board of directors of the National Council of La Raza [NCLR], Ruiz is a leader in the Hispanic community. She is also sits on the national board of the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), serves as a mayoral appointee commissioner on the Philadelphia Planning Commission, is on the Temple University Economic Opportunities advisory committee and on the PNC advisory committee, was on PA Governor Tom Wolf’s steering committee and most recently asked by Democratic Mayoral Candidate Jim Kenny to serve on a child welfare policy committee. Ruiz and APM have earned many awards including the 2014 Hispanic Choice award for advocacy, Impacto’s Most Influential Latina in the Delaware Valley, and many real estate trade awards including the AIA award for excellence in building.
