Richard Snyder, M.D.

Richard Snyder, M.D. is the senior vice president and chief medical officer for the Independence Blue Cross Family of companies where he has been employed since 1997. Dr. Snyder is a member of the Chronic Care Management, Reimbursement, and Cost Reduction Commission of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that has a goal to improve the quality and coordination of health care delivery and promote self-management for Pennsylvanians with chronic illnesses. He is a longstanding Surveyor for the National Committee for Quality Assurance and has served as chair of the Review Oversight Committee and the Reconsideration Committee, responsible for the accreditation determinations for health plan Accreditation Surveys. Dr. Snyder is a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Alliance, and sits on a variety of other state and professional advisory committees.
