2015 Conference Day Suggestions: Best Session Picks for Different Job Paths

It’s a request we get more and more as we add new offerings to the Conference. “Of course, you can’t go wrong with any mix of sessions, but we do the programming with several different career tracks in mind,” says Director Laurie Dalton White. Here, our recommendations for a few different career tracks.

CAREER ROOKIES

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “The Skills You Need to Build Your Career.” 

11 am – 11:30 am: Have your resume reviewed by HR and career service experts in the Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend workshop “Working Simply: Embracing the Power of Your Personal Productivity Style.”

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Ask a career coach your burning questions in the Career Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Community Connection Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend a social media roundtable inside the Small Business Marketplace—perhaps “The Secret to Connecting With Your Social Media Audience” to maximize how you approach your social media outreach.

4 pm – 5 pm: Return to the Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach or have your resume reviewed; at 4:00 pm, attend workshop “Making LinkedIn Work for YOU!” in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

TRANSITION MAKERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend workshop “Reviving Your Career: Actionable Steps to Achieve a Professional Renaissance.”

11 am – 11:30 am: Consult a career coach in the Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “Branding & Perception: How to Maximize How You are Perceived by Others.”

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Get a LinkedIn profile makeover and meet local leaders in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Health & Wellness Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert exchange session “Spiraling Upward: The 5 Co-Creative Powers for Women on the Rise.”

4 pm – 5 pm: Join a Small Business Roundtable—perhaps “Taking Your Idea from Concept to Business Success”—inside the Small Business Marketplace.

NEGOTIATORS-IN-TRAINING

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend workshop “Understanding the Science and Art of Receiving Feedback to Negotiate What Matters Most.”

11 am – 11:30 am: Stop by the QVC Sprouts stage in the Exhibit Hall to catch some product pitch sessions and listen to buyer feedback.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend panel “Pioneering Pay Equity: Strategies to Bridge the Gap, Own Your Value and Negotiate Your Worth.”

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Ask a career coach for some negotiating tips in the Career Pavilion.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

3 – 4pm: Attend Small Business Roundtable “Charge What You Are Worth…Without Apology: Strategies to Stop Undervaluing, Undercharging and Overdelivering” or “Increase Your Cashflow—in Your Business and Your Life” in the Small Business Marketplace.

4 pm: Attend workshop “Making LinkedIn Work for YOU!” in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

LIFE-BALANCE SEEKERS

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend session “Better than Before: Mastering Our Habits.”

11 am – 11:30 am: Consult a career coach in the Career Pavilion.

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend session “How to Find your Life Balance Groove.”

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Meet local leaders and ask them how they balance work and life in the Cisco Networking Lounge.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

2:45 pm – 3 pm: Check out the rest of the Exhibit Hall, including the Health & Wellness Pavilion.

SESSION III, 3 pm – 4 pm: Attend expert exchange session “Maximizing Your Career in a Virtual Environment” or “How to Achieve Mindfulness in Your Busy Life” from either 3:00–3:30 pm or 3:45–4:15 pm. 

4 pm – 5 pm: Join a Small Business Roundtable—perhaps “Finding Your Focus: How to Prioritize What’s Important” —inside the Small Business Marketplace and return to the Career Pavilion if you weren’t able to see a career coach.

ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS

Before the Conference:  Visit paconferenceforwomen.org/sprouts to sign up for a time to pitch your product to a QVC expert panel in the Small Business Marketplace.

SESSION I, 10 am – 11 am: Attend panel “The Courage to Innovate: Unlocking the Skills for Fresh Thinking.”

11 am – 11:30 am: Get to know your fellow attendees – our official conference app makes networking and sharing contact information easy!

SESSION II, 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Attend workshop “What it Takes: The Ten Steps to Success.”

12:30 pm – 1 pm: Meet local leaders who have successfully launched a small business in the Cisco Networking Lounge inside the Exhibit Hall.

1 pm – 2:45 pm: Eat lunch while enjoying the keynote speeches.

3 pm – 4 pm: Join a Small Business Roundtable—perhaps “Successfully Scaling Your Business” —inside the Small Business Marketplace.

4 pm – 5 pm: If you didn’t sign up for a QVC pitch time in advance, come to the Sprouts stage in the Exhibit Hall to sign up for an unreserved pitch time. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
