Nkem Okafor

NKEM OKAFOR joined Independence Blue Cross in 2021 as VP of corporate strategy and transformation. In this new role, she oversees the execution of corporate strategy, including business, financial, and organizational strategies and priority initiatives. Okafor has a wealth of experience in strategic planning, transformative innovation, business development, and operational improvement. She founded Vieve Enterprises, a business strategy consulting firm that serves corporate, not-for-profit, and government entities. Before that, she was system VP of strategy and planning at Methodist Health System in Dallas. Okafor earned a master of public health in health management at Yale University and a BA in public policy analysis and journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives. She serves on several nonprofit boards and is a national speaker on business strategy, leadership, health disparities, and diversity and inclusion.
