Karen M. Dale
Karen M. Dale is the executive director for AmeriHealth District of Columbia, one of the largest medicaid managed care organizations in Washington, DC. Prior to leading AmeriHealth DC, Dale served as the executive vice president of healthcare management at DC Chartered Health Plan, Inc. (Chartered). Dale’s health care experience spans nearly three decades and she has successfully led teams that engage more than 100,000 members of AmeriHealth DC over the last year. She has guided the execution of unique approaches to managing the complex needs of medically underserved populations. Known for her “meet the member where they are” style, Dale has built a collaborative culture in which providers, community partners and employees of the health plan work side by side in the interest of the member. She serves as board chair for CommonHealth ACTION, a board member for both Volunteers of America National Services and the Volunteers of America National board.Dale earned an M.S. in psychiatric mental health nursing from The Catholic University, Washington, D.C., a B.S. in nursing from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia and was a member of the Leadership Greater Washington Class of 2003.
