PennWomen App FAQ

How do I download the app?

Just search “Penn Women” in your app store, or use the appropriate download link below.

Download now on the App Store  Get it now on Google Play

What if I already have the app from the 2019 Conference?

Please delete your old app, and download the new 2020 version in your app store. This year’s version includes some awesome updates, like a matchmaking feature, access to the podcast, and much more networking!

How do I log in?

Tap “Sign In” banner on the home screen. NOTE: Your App login is NOT at all related to your registration login. They are completely separate systems that require 2 separate logins. If you have not used the app previously, choose the option to “Sign Up.”

How do I create a profile?

Once you’ve logged in by providing your email address, you can customize your profile by tapping “My Profile” on the home screen, or in the “My CFW” tab. Fill in as little or as much info as you’d like, but keep in mind, the more robust your profile, the better your networking experience will be.

How do I create My Schedule?

You can only create a schedule if you’ve logged in and have finished a profile. Once this is done, simply tap the session you’d like to add to your schedule from the AGENDA screen, and then click “+ Add to My Schedule.” (If you don’t see the agenda yet, that’s just because it inst ready yet, check back soon.)

How do I view my schedule after I’ve added sessions?

In the My CFW tab, click  “My Schedule.”

If I add sessions to my personal schedule on the app, does that mean I’m guaranteed space in that session?

NO. We do not require or allow attendees to reserve space in any session. Creating a schedule on the app simply allows you to better plan out your busy day. One of the benefits of going virtual is that no one will be locked out of any session because of capacity. (yay, technology!)

How can I connect with a specific attendee?

Simply tap “My CFW” on the top of your app, then click on “Attendees.” You can search attendees by name, company, or title. You can also send a direct, private message attendees. Manage your messages in “Messages” in the “My CFW” tab. ALSO NEW THIS YEAR – be sure to check your “My Matches” tile from the home screen to see who you’ve been matched with based on your profile preferences. You can also browse posts on the “Social Wall” tab.

What if I have more questions about the app?

Within the Attendees section, send a direct message to Danielle Leshinski, OR select “Need Help?” in the top right menu of your screen.

2016 Attendees: Plan Your Day!

Pennsylvania Conference For Women

First, thank you to our 2016 sponsors!

Their commitment to moving the needle for women in the workplace is what makes this incredible day possible. We encourage you to get to know the companies supporting the Pennsylvania Conference for Women.

Help in Planning Your Day

As you think about what you’d like to get out of conference day, we encourage you to browse our online agenda as well as download our NEW app, which is updated regularly and allows you to save your favorite events to a private, personal schedule. (If you have last year’s app, please delete it and search “PennWomen” for the latest version!)

The quantity of offerings can be overwhelming, so we’re holding two short morning workshops on “Maximizing Your Conference Day” (7:40-8:00 am & 8:00-8:20 am in the new Tierney Social Hub).

What to Expect

The Conference is anchored by two powerful keynote sessions – one in the morning and one over lunch; three different hour-long breakout sessions (identify your preferred sessions in advance to save time); and multiple small business and social media roundtables in the afternoon. But that’s not nearly all!

Enter the Exhibit Hall and you’ll find the Beneficial Knowledge Bank Pavilion, Drexel LeBow Career Pavilion, a new Women-Owned Business Marketplace, Tierney Social Hub, AmerisourceBergen Community Connection Pavilion and the always-popular Health & Wellness Pavilion. Read on to learn more about what each has to offer.

Beneficial Knowledge Bank Pavilion

In addition to housing the Conference Bookstore and author book signings, the Beneficial Knowledge Bank Pavilion offers several “Learning Bursts” designed to cover everything from balancing your personal and professional lives to stress relief techniques. (11:00 am – 4:00 pm)

Be sure to visit the Beneficial Bank interactive exhibit to dive deep into your “Philosophy of Money.”

Drexel LeBow Career Pavilion

The Career Pavilion provides you with intimate and unique opportunities to best position yourself on the job, enhance your career skills and network with peers.

You’ll want to bring your current resume for free critique, and organize your thoughts in advance for a free one-on-one coaching session with a coach from Drexel LeBow or the International Coach Federation Philadelphia chapter. In addition, some of our sponsors will be on site recruiting.

Attend workshops led by Drexel LeBow School of Business staff throughout the day.

Women-Owned Business Marketplace

Come take advantage of the many opportunities available to grow and manage your small business in the Women-Owned Business Marketplace, plus support other women-owned small businesses by shopping the exhibits!

From 3:00 – 4:40 pm, join one of several Small Business Roundtables for an intimate unscripted talk led by an expert facilitator.

And don’t miss the QVC + zulily Product Search, happening from 7:30 am-5:00 pm. Watch dozens of entrepreneurs pitch their products and receive instant feedback from an expert panel of hosts and buyers from QVC and zulily. All presenter slots are currently filled, but you may join the waiting list by stopping by QVC’s booth (#257) in the morning.

Tierney Social Hub

The perfect spot to connect and recharge! Chat one-on-one with social media and digital experts about how to up your game on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and more. Bring your bestie, co-worker, boss, mentor or business partner to the #MoreThanMySelfie booth for the perfect pic that gets all the “likes.” Power up at a charging station before you leave and stay connected with @PennWomen.

AmerisourceBergen Community Connection Pavilion

Help assemble 2,000 personal care bags that will be donated to the Salvation Army Eliza Shirley House. Founded more than 150 years ago, the Eliza Shirley House provides emergency housing for women and children fighting homelessness throughout Philadelphia.

Be sure to visit all the local nonprofit booths in this pavilion, and stop by AARP to inquire about volunteer opportunities…and free headshots!

Health & Wellness Pavilion

Stop by the Health and Wellness Pavilion to catch one of several mini-workshops led by wellness and nutrition experts throughout the day. Topics range from healthy eating to how to avoid sitting all day at work.

Share the Love

Beneficial Bank will be collecting new and gently used children’s books to support Philadelphia READS, a resource for educators who serve our city’s children and youth. Books should be for children ages pre-K-12th grade and can be dropped off at the Beneficial Foundation Community Tree in the Exhibit Hall.

Now’s also a great time to take a look through your closet (or go shopping!) for the QVC & Career Wardrobe Handbag and Accessory Drive. The morning of the conference, bring your new or gently used handbags, jewelry, scarves and briefcases, plus unused hosiery and unopened cosmetics to the specially-marked bin next to the registration area.

2016 Attendees: Important Information for Conference Day

Pennsylvania Conference For Women

October 6th is on the horizon, and in order to make your special day with us go as smoothly as possible, we have a few important reminders for you.

When You Arrive

If you already have your name badge, you do not need to check in at the registration desk upon arrival – you may proceed to pick up your bag with goodies and lanyard with badge holder outside Exhibit Hall C.

Seating Assignments: Your badge includes your seating assignment for lunch. We ask that you sit only at your assigned seat during that time. However, all other sessions, including the morning keynote session, are open seating.

Tip: Download the App

With so much to do in just one day, it pays to be prepared. Get a head start on planning your day—and getting to know fellow attendees, if you like—by downloading our all-new 2016 app, sponsored by Cisco and now available on all major platforms by searching “PennWomen” (or find download links here).

Browse the full program and save your own custom agenda for the day. Share your information (optional) to make networking a breeze. Get maps, session descriptions and speaker information with a tap of the finger, and receive realtime alerts wherever you are.

Getting to the Conference

On October 6th, approximately 9,000 women will converge on the Pennsylvania Convention Center at the same time.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to plan ahead for traffic, parking and crowded public transit. We suggest you take the train or carpool if at all possible, and allow extra time in the morning so you don’t miss any of our morning programming.

You’ll find directions, parking options, discounts and help navigating public transportation on our Travel page.

Special Meal Requests

We are pleased to be serving Cider Gastrique Chicken with assorted vegetables and a couscous salad at the keynote luncheon. We can also provide an alternative meal for those with certain special diets. If you or anyone in your group requires a Vegetarian, Vegan or Gluten-Free meal, please let your main registrant know so that s/he can login to the registration to make that request for you by this Friday September 23rd.  Only the main registrant may make this request for you. Learn more here.

If neither of our meal choices accommodate your needs, you may bring your own food to the conference.

Bring Your Resume

In addition to free one-on-one career coaching and professional resume review opportunities, you will find talent acquisition teams from some of our sponsors in the Career Pavilion.

Bring your ‘A’ game and your resume!

A Note for Moms

Got milk? The Pennsylvania Convention Center is equipped with two private “nursing pods” on the 200 level between Halls A & B (near registration). We will also provide a dedicated nursing room in Meeting Room 302, with power outlets, a refrigerator and privacy screens. Please plan for the possibility of a crowd during peak break times and bring a battery-operated pump if you have one.

What You Need to Know about the New Federal Rules to Close the Pay Gap

executive-order-2016Earlier this year, President Obama announced a new executive order requiring companies with more than 100 employees to report their salaries, along with their sex, race, ethnicity and job group, to the federal government. It’s understandable if the news left you underwhelmed or the significance escaped you. “Remember that politicians campaign in poetry, but govern in prose,” says Victoria Pynchon, co-founder of She Negotiates Consulting and Training. “There’s not much poetry in an executive order that only requires reporting, but it acknowledges the existence of the pay gap, something many people do not believe exists. It’s an important first step.” Read More
